Challenge Create: Adult Edition Challenge ONE

As I mentioned here (uh and all week), I made it into the Challenge Create: Adult Edition competition over at Skirt Fixation! The first challenge theme is Nature Inspired.

This was my inspiration board.

Since there is so much beautiful lush greenery around, the bulbs that poke through the ground make such a statement. They are easily seen. I wanted the same POP for my outfit. I used a very soft texture knit for the dress, with the Lady Skater Pattern by Kitschy Coo. It is the first time I have ever used this pattern. I had to grade it (because I am different sizes in different places), and am loving the results of a very fitted, yet comfortable dress.

The pants are self-drafted. I rarely wear anything other than super comfortable flowy yoga-type pants. I have no idea why it has taken me this long to make my own! I made them from a very very soft ponte knit. Oh goodness, this fabric is like buttah. These pants have the swish of a skirt with all the benefits of being pants.

I free-hand painted (with acrylic paints, heat set in the dryer) some designs onto the dress to add visual interest.

I painted a feather to look like it is sticking into the dress. It brings some style without the bulk of an actual feather.

Here is a close-up of the design I painted on the scarf.

Scarves are essential most times of year here, but especially in the Spring. We normally wear less, but those chilly breezes can still appear.

Spring is a time to be in clothing that allow you to move!

This challenge got my creative juices flowing! springprettym

Head on over, if you liked my outfit, please give it a vote!!

I got to see it a day early because I’m up that late! :) I love your outfit… I’ve sewn up lots of skaters for my girls, but not bought the pattern for myself yet, I might have too! I wish I could paint like that, until I read that the feather was painted I thought you really stuck one through your dress. I totally agree on the scarves too, pretty sure I’m wearing one in my pants picture!! :) (because it’s still on now)

    • Heehee Thank you. I am still up (not for long) too!
I love hearing that you thought my feather was real! That was what I was going for.
The voting doesn’t seem to be up right now, but I surely would appreciate a vote tomorrow!
      THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT, Kristi!!!
