Top O’ the Mornin’ to you

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

I had a request from my little leprechaun catcher this year, to make her a green dress for this holiday. Not only a green dress, but one she would design herself!

I couldn’t refuse such a fabulous idea.

I give to you….the Limerick Princess Dress!

There once was a girl dressed in green

who never ever ever was mean

She always was nice

like sugar and spice

Just like her sister the teen.

HA!

I started with dyeing another sheet. This time, shamrock green. She designed the one gather in the front, along with the special tulip-esque sleeves. I just happened to have a enough of the gold left over from the vest project to use, along with some gold tulle in my stash.

I had never done any sleeves like this before, so this was really a test. I had to design the shape and figure out how to put it all together. I think they came out quite cute. She loves them.

I added the design to the collar (which I also drafted), and the sash. The zip is not quite invisible, but I am OK with it.

This was a fun one to do.

My sweet girl was so excited about this, and now she has croup (AGAIN)! What the what? I have no idea why she has had such a difficult year when it comes to germs, but I told her to stop licking her hands….and her classmates. That made her giggle.

Also to not take the whole “being green” thing so literally.

Wishing you all a Happy (and healthy) St.Patrick’s Day!

  1. We don’t celebrate this day over here, but happy St. Patrick’s day for you and your family.
I hope she gets better from the croup soon, and then, let me tell you how much I loved that she asked you to make a dress designed by her. Mom was – again – up to the challenge and did a great job!

    • My husband and I don’t usually do anything for this holiday, but the kids LOVE it.
I was informed that I should be wearing green before they get home, or I’ll get pinched.
      Oy.
      LOL
Thanks. I couldn’t resist such a sweet request:)

That is so fun. I love it when my kids help design stuff. Helps insure wear ability as well! :)
I forgot my green when I got dressed but my kids reminded me! Now I’m good to go.

There once was a wee girl named Sharon
Who didn’t know what she should be wearin’
So she pulled out a needle and grabbed some thread
And stitched a wee tam for the top o’ her head

    Ooh. ;)

    Happy St Pattys Day

  4. Love the dyed sheets turned into a dress! You are amazing!
