Over at one of my all time favorite blogs, Project Run and Play, Season 7 is beginning!
I am sewing along on this one (as I do with almost all of them). The first theme is a remix of an Oliver + S (free) pattern. Even though it isn’t due until the 9th of September, I figured I would get a jump on it now before the start of school.
I kept the button placket down the front, along with the tag that was on the shirt. I thought this added to the charm of it being one of Papa’s Shirts. I picked off the pocket and relocated it front and center with some lace around the middle. It is big enough to fit both her hands, so I know it will be plenty big for her treasures.
For the top piece, I used an old pair of my light-colored jeans which gives the top a bit more stability. I made some blue bias tape, and added snaps instead of ties. I also stitched around the entire perimeter because I liked the effect. Kind of country, or small town rural, don’t you think?
Is that even a thing?
Luckily, I had everything in my stash, and it was all thrifted! WOOHOO.
What I love most about this dress, though, is its versatility. I wanted her to be able to finish out the Summer with it, and be able to pair it with a long sleeve shirt and some tights for school. Or the Harvest Fair. Or playing in the Fall leaves.
