For my 41st birthday this year, the theme was “white dress“. You wouldn’t believe how much guff I got over that one.
Yes I just wrote “guff”.
My sweet friends that came, showered me in love and dressed in white…
along with their children.
I love that they have all learned to just humor me.
The hammock was a huge hit with all those under 10 years old. Although I think the adults would have loved it too if they were given the chance.
We also had all the kids hand-crank homemade icecream (egg-free for Falafel and some of her friends with the same allergy, of course).
They had so much fun making icecream, but honestly I think they enjoyed licking the salt off the top of it more. Seriously. As Jim said, they were like deer at a salt lick.
They went back and forth from the icecream to piling in hammock. It was a very funny sight. And the hammock (amazingly) held up.
As for the teens that were there, we had drawing…
…and baby holding. Surreal for me, seeing my 13 year old so comfortable holding a baby. She is very good with kids.
I had some of the girls play ring-around-the rosy. Just for the photos. Because, well, just look at how sweet they are.
and fall down.
But perhaps the biggest (and best) surprise of the day was our dear friend drove up from Portland to join us.
I have known him for about 23 years now and he is like a brother to my husband and me.
And an Uncle for our girls.
Our day was complete.
Plus, Falafel was catching flies and butterflies. It just doesn’t get any better than that!
She did release them all right away, but I swear she was like a miniature Mr. Miyagi catching them effortlessly. Very Zen.
My husband’s outfit was my favorite.
He found this vintage embroidered cock-fighting shirt along with white polyester sailor’s pants at Goodwill. *sigh*
I wore these gross dollar slippers on my feet. heh. Cause I could.
The weather couldn’t have been nicer, too.
I think we all had fun. And they all loved the homemade icecream!
And wearing white turned out to be less painful than they all imagined. Sheesh. Someone actually asked me when the Rapture would be.
I said “after cake”.
Thank you everyone. It feels good to get old with friends like you.
All that white made for gorgeous photos!! It does look like a delightful day.
That is exactly what I was thinking, Melissa! LOL Thanks:)
41 suits you Michelle, you look great! I love all the white (I might steal that idea for my 41st!) the photos are beautiful… Looks like a lovely day
Oh thank you, friend! Steal away! It was fun. I hope your friends don’t give you guff too- LOL.
Now you made me wish i had a white themed party for my 30th birthday. But it’ll be by the end of October… maybe if I get lucky?! It looks like a wonderful day.
One question, how can I follow your comments back?! I know you answer them always, but sometimes I might forget to come back to check it!?
that is a good question, Magda! I will look into that.
It doesn’t give you the option to subscribe to the comments?
You totally should have an all white party! Be prepared though, for people to say they don’t have white! LOL
Nope. It doesn’t give me any option to follow/subscribe your following comments.
I want to redo my blog soon. I will be sure to have that option!
