This week’s theme over at Project Run and Play is “Your Signature Style“.

That really is a tricky one. I had to use my brain and think about what my signature style would be. Hmmm.

Good question.

I thought back on all of my past projects (especially recent ones) and came up with a few things (however abstract) that tie them all together.

  1. Simple. I try to reflect a very simple time in every outfit I sew for my girls. A time where there was no social media (uh, or computers for that matter) or electronics. A time when little girls could be little girls. I suppose I could say “old fashioned“, but we don’t want to involve age, now do we? heh.
  2. Comfortable. Well if my girl can’t move in it, then what’s the point, really? And wow does she move! There is always dirt to be dug and trees to be climbed. Always.
  3. Sweet. There also seems to be something that I add to whatever I am sewing to make it sweet. Whether it is tiny mouse-covered fabric, or a stitched heart. I love to hear my girls say “aw” when admiring their new duds.

mousemI actually used a pattern for this one (instead of the winging-it self-drafted method I normally go with). I couldn’t resist this Oliver+S Ice cream dress pattern. It just oozes sweet.

mouse9mIt also works well for the times you can’t help but pick flowers. Even in 40 degree weather. Without a coat. *sigh*

mouse7mI added a small heart button to the back. There it is. Does your tooth hurt yet from all this sugar?

mousebackmLet’s get in close to those tiny dancing ballerina mice!

mouse11mYup. That’s the stuff.

mouse2mSo there you go.

Simple. Comfortable. Sweet.

Thank you! What is it about cartoon mice that make them so darn cute?

  3. So tender! I also am a lover of the simpler times style. I can imagine that she loves being more free to move. Great job on this beautiful piece. Which Oliver & S pattern is your favorite?

Thanks so much Al! This is the very first Oliver+S pattern that I have bought. I have taken out the book from the library (a number of times now), and love all of the patterns in it!
    Thanks for stopping by!

I adore that little mouse fabric. So sweet. Little touches like that heart button what makes handmade worth the effort :)
