I recently joined The Iron Craft Challenge over on Just Crafty Enough. I have to say that I love challenges. I find that I enjoy the structure, and prompts are a fabulous way to spark my creativity.

My first challenge is:

Orange

Oh the ideas I had for this one!

I finally settled on a project for my oldest daughter.

mer8mThis doll has a secret under that dress.

The Bee absolutely loves a show (found on Netflix) called H2O: Just Add Water about Australian teen Mermaids.

I knew what I had to do.

I made her an orange mermaid doll (because that is actually the color of their tails on that show~who would have thought?).

mertailm

I added a fancy embroidered sheer piece of fabric to the backside of the tail to mimic the special ridges they have.

The Bee made a necklace to go with it out of a shell she found while we were on vacation in Florida last year.

Perfect.

I enjoyed this one. To tell you the truth, if that show was around when I was 13, I would have totally watched it too.

merflymI realize that she is getting a little old to play with dolls, but I love that I can still make them for her and have her appreciate them…for now.

mer3m

This one sure was fun. {And since I missed the first challenge (cotton), this can double for both}

Orange you glad you stopped by?!

Heh.

I couldn’t resist.

I’m so impressed. I love how this doll turned out. I know if I had a daughter I would be making dolls like this all the time.

Thanks so much! I love making these. They sew up quick and are so satisfying!

  3. That doll is lovely Michelle… have I told you lately how clever you are? Really, so amazing :)
