I have seen tutorials all over blogland for fabric crowns and I have been itching to try one. Only I didn’t have spray starch. So, I decided to try it without. And you know what?

It worked!

First I wrapped our friend The Skull in plastic wrap {I wanted to use a balloon, but didn’t have one of those either}.

Then I mixed up some white glue and water. Then dipped the lace ribbon in it. Squeezed the excess out and then wrapped it around the skull.

I dipped the fabric lace trim as well, but spread that one flat as an experiment. Once it was dry, I painted that piece with Antique Gold acrylic paint.

Once the flat piece was completely dry, I glued the ends together to form a circle and held them with clothespins while it dried. I just had to gently remove the lace ribbon from the skull. No gluing necessary. It was already glued!

Oh my goodness that was easy! And fairly quick {if you don’t count the drying time}.

Stick on your head and be royal.

Like this.

If you need a crown in a hurry, this project is for you. They both stayed together well. I am lucky that the skull and my daughter and her friend have the same sized head. More or less. You can totally measure your head before you start.

I’m sure if you layered it with spray starch, glue, paint, and then sealed it with a clear coat this crown would be indestructible, but for us, the fast method worked just fine.

Especially if it is just for one night.
