The good, the bad, and the what the heck was I thinking?
So I was alone in the house with my sewing machine and the newfound knowledge of how to make a bodice with hidden seams.
Since I have been making so many things for Falafel lately, I decided it was time to throw one together for The Bee.
I found some old fashioned-looking gingham type material and thought “Perfect! She likes prairie girl dresses”. Yeah. Maybe 3 years ago.
I really don’t know what I was thinking. I guess in my head, I still think of her as my little girl. The one who likes dress up and Little House on the Prairie and all things sweet and flowery.
Then she came home from school and all of a sudden I saw girl who is all grown up, as tall as I am, and very much not little anymore.
I know I have seen this in her before, but not really when it comes to making things for her. It was one of those knee jerk moments in sewing that I went to what I know. And it just so happens, what I know has changed.
This dress does not fit. Her body or personality. She loved that I tried, but totally looked at me like I had three heads.
She was sweet enough to humor me and put it on.
On the bright side: Look at that zipper! I finally got it. YAY for little victories. It is too bad that no one can wear it. It is HUGE on Falafel and waaaay too small and weird on The Bee.
*sigh*
At least I learned a few things out of this one.
On to the next thing.
