Do you remember when I bought this fabric for my Birthday??

Well I have been oogling this incredible dress over at Googiemomma. I love everything about it (especially the hidden seams!). I have always wanted to learn how to construct a more professional looking dress and wondered how on earth people did it without the seams being exposed, or having to turn the arm holes and stitch around. It just didn’t make sense to my brain. Googiemomma has a brilliant step-by-step tutorial over there, if you are interested.

I changed the design a bit. While I absolutely love the one-shoulder look, I thought with colder weather coming, somehow by adding another shoulder, Falafel would be warmer {???}.

I also drafted my own pattern for the bodice, so it came out a bit big. I always seem to go bigger from fear of making it too small and unwearable.

I have to say that I LOVE this way of constructing bodices!! I don’t think I will ever go back to the way I used to do it.

Did I mention that I inserted my second invisible zipper, ever? I did. And it zips!

As for being too big, I just cinched the tie a little tighter. And it works for now.

We also picked blackberries.

Yes, while wearing the new dress. Yikes. But they were so darn tempting.

And she amazingly didn’t get a speck on the new dress.

Now she has a cute new dress and a bowl full of blackberries (we didn’t eat them all… yet).

PS- I’ve been featured here!

Have you made anything today?

Michelle that dress is so fantastic… she looks gorgeous in it (love the poses too!) The bonus of the extra shoulder is that she could wear it in cooler weather with a long sleeve top and some tights underneath :)

Yes! Thanks Kristin. I knew I wasn’t completely silly.
