Antiques and Stuff
I went to the Kitsap Antique show: History and Heritage 2011!
I usually never go to these events because I wouldn’t really know a true antique if it bit me on my rotary phone.
But with that said, I actually had a great time! My friend and I headed to the show with our items to be appraised in hand. We sat in on a lecture on Victorian Table Settings, and then walked around talking to the vendors and taking in all the sights. There were fantastic items all for sale. The remarkable thing is some of them truly brought me back to growing up in the 70′s and visiting Aunts’ kitchens (which looked like they did in the 50′s). I even saw some dolls that I grew up with.
OK. I had a pair of these skates! Seriously feeling old right now.
I fell in love with this bike. It came very close to coming home with me.
I don’t think of anything I grew up with as an antique, but some of it actually is…as long as it is in good condition. That is key.
Then we got to meet the Appraisers.
I brought a “Beatle Bulletin” from when my Mom was a teen. She absolutely loved the Beatles (hmmm, maybe it’s genetic?). She was so in love with Paul that she trained herself to write “lefty” to be just like him. Oh yeah. Obsessive much? Good thing she grew out of that!
I have always been curious to what it’s worth was. It turns out to not be as valuable as I had hoped, but it is incredibly sentimental and I am still glad to have it.
It was an educational and fun day. I look forward to next year’s show!
